This Friday marks a significant role debut for the baritone; he returns to Opera Birmingham in the title role of Ambroise Thomas' Hamlet. Says the singer, "The French grand opera tradition, and the iconic role of Hamlet in particular, caught my attention long ago. This month Corey McKern makes his company debut with Atlanta Opera as the American Consul Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. In a recent interview with the Gwinnett Daily Post McKern said, “This is one of the great romantic Italian operas, and anyone would like this piece. If you don’t know anything about opera, this has everything you might imagine. Puccini was a master of setting drama to music and provoking emotions."
Performances are November 8, 11, 14 and 16, 2014.

Kicking off his 2014/15 Season Corey McKern will make his debut with the Phoenix Symphonyas a Soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana.
Performances are September 19 and 20, 2014 in Symphony Hall.

On May 9 and 11, 2014 Corey stars as Marcello in Florentine Opera's production of Puccini's La Bohème. Corey appears alongside rising talents Alyson Cambridge (Mimi), Noah Stewart (Rodolfo) and Katrina Thurman (Musetta).

In October Corey debuts the role of MacHeath in Indianapolis Opera's premiere production of Weill's The Threepenny Opera. Corey last appeard with Indy Opera in 2009
as Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos. Says the singer, "I was born in Indianapolis, both of my parents are from here and many of my relatives still live here, so it's definitely a company that feels like home!"
Performances will take place at the Basile Opera Center, an intimate space with 300 seats. This smaller space will give opera-goers a riviting portrayal of what Corey calls "a great, dark story, with fantastic music...it's really a mix of opera and musical styles."

Next month Corey will appear as a soloist at Twickenham Fest in Huntsville, Alabama. Performing alongside friend, colleague and Twickenham Fest co-founder Susanna Phillips, his appearances include a special Patron concert, a night of Schubert songs, plus the World Premiere of a piece by composer Christopher Weiss.
